My Story...

I blame my Mom. She has had a love for photography for as long as I can remember. Anywhere we would go, she loved taking photos...and she was good at it!  To this day, she has a large suitcase packed FULL of snapshots taken over the past 40+ years.

My Mom may have sparked the passion and has been my biggest fan, but if it wasn't for the influence of my cousin, Cary, I never would have imagined photography would be anything more than just a hobby. She guided me through the basics of the business, gave me my first "real" camera, and allowed me to tag along and ask a million questions. I was in awe of how she made it look so easy. (She makes everything look easy! ). Lucky for me, I have these two amazing women in my life who not only share the passion for photography, but have inspired and encouraged mine. Lucky for them, they can't get rid of me.

My friends call me Becks...

I'm a simple Colorado born girl, raised by 2 of the best parents you could ask for.
I am now raising my own children and question my sanity daily. Three teenagers under one roof will do that. But I wouldn't change a thing! Even when we added to the chaos with the latest addition to the family. Otis is the most handsome French Bulldog you'll ever meet. He has brought endless amounts of joy and laughter to our home and spreads the love everywhere he goes.

It is everything."

Macaya (muh-kye-uh)

The name Macaya came from my kids. They drive me and encourage me and make me laugh daily.

I'm the Mom of 3 amazing kids (and one bad-ass doggo!) who have been in front of the camera since birth.

They have endured the ups and downs of having a Mom as a photographer.

They have tolerated freezing temps and long car rides.

They have been my co-pilots on many of my crazy adventures. And they still love me...

The inspiration behind the name "Macaya" comes from them:

Ma (Madison) -Ca (Cameron) -Ya (Maya)

Nothing fancy...but without my family, there would be no adventure!

And once the human kids are grown, Otis and I have some new adventures planned!

There's no telling where we will end up but I'm hoping a camper van of sorts will be our mode of transportation.

Stay tuned...
